Buying a house or an apartment on the Costa Brava

The Costa Brava is the name given to the coastline along the province of Girona. Its territory extends from the French border (Portbou) to Blanes.

Known for its tranquility, the beauty of its landscapes, its hidden coves, its crystal clear waters, its natural parks, its medieval towns, its old fishing villages with white houses, the works of Salvador Dalí, the Costa Brava, means «wild coast», referring to its rocky and fragmented coastline. The other strong point of the Costa Brava is without a doubt its famous gastronomy. The restaurants of the region have almost 20 Michelin stars. There are true temples of cuisine, such as the Celler de Can Roca.

Until the end of the 1950s, the region had little in the way of tourist infrastructure. The landscape remained untouched and only attracted people with a taste for adventure. Its climate and its beaches were suitable for summer holidays.

During the Franco period, it was the object of an important tourist development, but its uneven relief made construction difficult at times, which protected the most beautiful places from the ambition of developers.

Where to buy your house or apartment on the Costa Brava?

Among the most notable places in this region is Cadaqués, known as the inspiration for the surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. This area is particularly difficult to access by road, which has allowed it to remain untouched by the overuse of tourism.

A few kilometers away is the bay of Roses, one of the most beautiful in the world, and Empuriabrava, one of the largest residential marinas in the world with over 30 km of canals.

Going down to the south, we will pass by other paradisiacal places like Begur, Tamariu, Llafranc or Calella de Palafrugell. Not to mention the beautiful medieval villages located inland, such as Pals or Peratallada.

We will also find cities like Platja d’Aro and Lloret de Mar, which, unlike the first cities, have a more frequented tourist model and where the youngest and party-goers will find their happiness.

The route of the Costa Brava’s must-see places also passes through the old town of Tossa de Mar, a National Historic-Artistic Monument, and through Palamós and Sant Feliu de Guíxols, friendly and warm towns that are active all year round.

The villages of the Costa Brava most requested by our clients are: Llançà, Roses, Empuriabrava, L’Escala, L’Estartit, Pals, Begur, Calella de Palafrugell, Platja d’Aro, S’Agaró, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar.
